From dreams to reality, the Old Adobe Mission is a work in progress. Learn more about how we have worked to preserve the first Catholic parish and oldest standing church in Scottsdale. We have won many restoration awards.
2000 - 2009
- 2000: The City of Scottsdale's Historic Preservation Commission asks Rev. Hever about the status of the old adobe church for placement on the city's Historic Register
- 2001: The City of Scottsdale places Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mission Church on its Register of Historic Buildings
- 2002:
- Rev. Hever assembles a restoration committee for the purpose of preserving the church and its rich history, artifacts, and documents
- Physical restoration begins, and a new landscaping and watering system is installed
- 2003:
- The Mission Church is known as the Old Adobe Mission
- The Mission received a grant from the Arizona State Parks' Historic Preservation Heritage Fund
- Restoration work includes stabilization of the bell tower, adobe brick repair, stained-glass window repair and installation, interior and exterior painting, and restoration of arcade to its original design
- Mass is held in honor of the original parishioners and their families. The Mass is the first since 1956

- 2006:
- A second grant is awarded by the Arizona State Park's Historic Preservation Heritage Fund providing updated electrical and HVAC systems
- An ecumenical service is held on Thanksgiving Eve with OLPH, Scottsdale United Methodist, St. Maria Goretti, and Scottsdale United Presbyterian
- Old Adobe Mission begins its Volunteer Docent Program
- 2007:
- Updated landscaping and new irrigation is installed through Nick Valentine's Eagle Scout project
2010 - Today
- 2010: The confessional area is restored through Kevin Donaldson's Eagle Scout project
- 2011: A cabinet is built to display Msgr. Maguire's vestments and is placed in the sacristy through Aiden Leaser's Eagle Scout project
- 2012: A new roof is installed
- 2013: The Old Adobe Mission celebrates its 80th anniversary
- 2017:
- Construction of a 1,200 square-foot addition is completed
- A new high altar and side altars are installed
